This book represents who are. The African Proverb “Until Lions are their own historians, tales of hunting will always glorify the hunter” Chinua Achebe. We feel fortunate, we’re not lions and can tell our own stories. All of us, like you are beautiful, messy creatures that are doing the very best we can. Yes, we have been labeled due to our challenges, knocked down due to circumstances, and humbled by a world that often rejects us. Yet, that doesn’t, and will not define us. As you will see, the pain we’ve experienced has offered gifts of creativity, perspective, resiliency and learning. We hope you enjoy our talents but most importantly we want you to hear our voices, listen to the stories within the forms of expression and tune in to the emotion that connects us all. Please be mindful, we don’t want your pity, we will take your understanding and you’re welcome for the inspiration.
